Mines, quarries and processing

Mining and resources electricians for Victorian sites

Victoria's resources work is underground gold, quarries, mineral sands and the processing plants around them. We supply licensed sparkies who hold the tickets those sites actually gate on — and who turn up knowing the induction takes longer than the drive.

Short answer

Grid Force Hire supplies A-Grade electricians to Victorian mining and resources sites — underground and open-cut gold, quarries, mineral sands and processing plants — on a casual hourly basis. Crews cover fixed-plant maintenance, HV and LV distribution, motor control, conveyor and crusher electrics, with hazardous-area competency, site medicals and inductions matched before deployment.

The work

What hosts ask us for on mining and resources sites

Fixed-plant maintenance and shutdowns

Crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps and process plant — planned maintenance windows, change-outs and shutdown crews working to a scoped task list under permit.

Underground and surface distribution

Substations, switchrooms, reticulation to headings and workshops, lighting and power along drives, and the LV side of HV distribution.

Motor control and drives

MCCs, soft starters and VSDs, control circuits and interlocks, fault finding traced back through the schematic rather than by swapping parts.

Breakdown response

Extra hands when a conveyor or a pump station stops and the plant is losing tonnes an hour, on shift times agreed before the crew starts.

Projects and expansions

New plant installs, cable and containment runs, terminations, pre-start testing and commissioning support alongside your own crew.

Matched to your site

Tickets and clearances this work usually needs

This is what we're typically asked for on this kind of site — it isn't a fixed list. What your site needs is whatever you tell us on the request, and that's what we match to. Held is not the same as current, so we check the dates too.

  • Victorian A-Grade Electrician's Licence (Energy Safe Victoria)
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Low Voltage Rescue and CPR
  • Working at heights and Elevated Work Platform
  • Confined space entry
  • Hazardous areas (EEHA) where the site has classified zones
  • HV switching competency for sites with their own high-voltage supply
  • Site-specific inductions, medicals and drug-and-alcohol testing

What's different about crewing this sector

Mine sites gate on paperwork more than most. Inductions, medicals and drug-and-alcohol testing often have to be done before anyone reaches the gate, and that lead time is real — tell us the site's requirements when you request the crew, not when they arrive.

Regional sites usually mean travel, and sometimes accommodation. Where it genuinely applies, it is stated in the quote before you accept, never added to an invoice afterwards.

Shift rosters here are rarely nine-to-five. Shift times and any negotiated overtime, night or weekend rates are written into the quote up front, so the invoice reflects what was agreed rather than what was assumed.

We supply labour only. Your site keeps the electrical contractor registration and issues the Certificate of Electrical Safety; our electricians work under your supervision and your permit system, the same as your own crew.

Questions

Mining and resources hire, answered

Do you supply electricians to regional Victorian mine sites?
Yes. We supply across Victoria, including the goldfields around Bendigo, Ballarat and Stawell, the Murray Basin mineral sands, quarries statewide and the Latrobe Valley. Tell us the site and the roster in your request, and any travel or accommodation is priced into the quote before you accept it.
Can your electricians work in hazardous areas?
Some hold current hazardous-area (EEHA) competency, and it's recorded against them with its expiry. Tell us the zone classification when you request the crew and we'll only match electricians whose competency is current — it isn't something to discover on site.
How do you handle site inductions and medicals?
We record what each site requires against the job and confirm each electrician meets it before deployment. Because mine inductions and medicals often have to be completed in advance, the earlier you tell us what's needed, the sooner the crew can actually start.
Can you crew a shutdown?
Yes. Give us the dates, the crew size and the tickets the scope needs, and the crew is confirmed before the shutdown starts. Shutdowns are the sharpest test of a labour-hire provider — the crew has to be right on the first morning, because there isn't a second one.
Are you a mining electrical contractor?
No. Grid Force Hire is labour hire only — we employ the electricians and supply them to work under your direction. We don't take on a scope of work, price packages, or hold the electrical contractor registration for your site.

Need mining and resources electricians?

Tell us the site, the tickets and the start date. We'll come back with a written quote — rate per electrician, all-inclusive, no lock-in.
