Offices, retail, hospitality and education

Commercial electricians for offices, retail and everything between

Commercial is the broadest work we do — an office fit-out, a school or university campus upgrade, a shopping-centre carpark, a pub refurb, or the maintenance run that keeps a building open. Whatever the building is, we put licensed sparkies on it quickly.

Short answer

Grid Force Hire supplies A-Grade commercial electricians across Melbourne and Victoria for offices, retail, hospitality, schools, universities and TAFEs, apartment common areas and high-rise — covering base build, fit-out, refurbishment, tenancy works and ongoing maintenance, on a casual hourly basis. Crews can be scaled up or down week to week with no lock-in, and every licence and ticket is verified before the first shift.

The work

What hosts ask us for on commercial sites

Fit-out and tenancy works

Light and power rough-in and fit-off, GPOs, data and comms containment, lighting control, switchboard alterations and final testing for offices, retail and hospitality.

Base build and high-rise

Mains and submains, riser work, distribution boards, tenancy metering, carparks and common-area services on multi-level projects.

Refurbishment and make-good

Working around occupied floors, after-hours strip-out and reinstatement, and staged handovers by level or tenancy.

Maintenance and service work

Ongoing crew for planned maintenance, reactive call-outs, lighting and switchboard upgrades, and essential-services testing across a building or a portfolio.

Schools, community and hospitality

Classroom and campus upgrades across schools, universities and TAFEs, plus gyms, clubs, pubs and restaurants — buildings that are occupied, so the work happens around the people using them.

Programme surges

Extra crew for the three weeks before handover, when the defect list and the certifier arrive at the same time.

Matched to your site

Tickets and clearances this work usually needs

This is what we're typically asked for on this kind of site — it isn't a fixed list. What your site needs is whatever you tell us on the request, and that's what we match to. Held is not the same as current, so we check the dates too.

  • Victorian A-Grade Electrician's Licence (Energy Safe Victoria)
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Working at heights
  • Elevated Work Platform (scissor and boom)
  • Low Voltage Rescue and CPR
  • Asbestos awareness on refurbishment sites

What's different about crewing this sector

Commercial work is where crew size changes fastest. Because our electricians are casual and paid for hours worked, you can put four on this week and two on next without renegotiating anything.

Hours are signed off on site by your supervisor, on the phone, on the day. You approve what you're invoiced for before it becomes an invoice.

If a sparky isn't right for your site, tell us and we'll replace them. There's no minimum term to work out of.

Questions

Commercial hire, answered

What counts as commercial electrical work?
Anything that isn't a house, a factory or a specialist site: offices, retail, shopping centres, hospitality, gyms, schools, universities and TAFEs, childcare, medical suites, apartment common areas, carparks and high-rise. It covers new build and fit-out, but just as much refurbishment, tenancy works and ongoing maintenance on buildings that are already open.
Do you supply electricians for maintenance, not just projects?
Yes. Ongoing maintenance crews, reactive call-outs, lighting and switchboard upgrades and essential-services work are all standard requests. A steady maintenance run is easier for us to staff than a series of disconnected days, so tell us if that's what you need.
Can I put on two electricians now and add more later?
Yes. Extra crew is added to the existing job at the rate you already agreed, so there's no second round of paperwork.
What if an electrician isn't suited to our site?
Tell us and we'll stand them down and replace them. Workers are casual and there's no lock-in, so you're never carrying someone who isn't working out.
Do I get to approve the hours before I'm invoiced?
Yes. Your supervisor signs off each day's hours on site, and nothing reaches an invoice you haven't already approved. If a day looks wrong, you can query it before it's billed.
Are your electricians licensed for commercial work in Victoria?
Every electrician holds a current Victorian A-Grade Electrician's Licence issued by Energy Safe Victoria. We check the licence and the tickets your site requires before anyone is deployed.
