Rail, road, water and civil

Infrastructure and civil electricians

Big infrastructure runs on occupations and possessions — narrow windows where the work has to happen and the crew has to be there. We supply electricians who understand that a missed shift on a rail occupation isn't a missed day, it's a missed month.

Short answer

Grid Force Hire supplies A-Grade electricians to Victorian infrastructure and civil projects including rail, road, tunnelling and utilities corridors, on a casual hourly basis. Crews cover temporary works, lighting and power reticulation, cabling and containment, and station and tunnel services, with inductions and tickets verified before deployment.

The work

What hosts ask us for on infrastructure sites

Temporary works and site power

Site supplies, distribution, temporary lighting, generator connections and progressive relocation as the works front moves.

Rail and station services

Cabling, containment, lighting, power and small-services work in and around stations, platforms and tunnels, on possession and occupation windows.

Road and tunnel systems

Cable pulling and terminations, lighting circuits, cabinets and field devices along road and tunnel corridors.

Water, ports and civil assets

Pump stations, treatment plants, wharf and terminal services, and the switchboards, controls and field wiring that go with them.

Night shift surges

Crews for planned night works, where the whole point is that everyone turns up and the window is used.

Matched to your site

Tickets and clearances this work usually needs

This is what we're typically asked for on this kind of site — it isn't a fixed list. What your site needs is whatever you tell us on the request, and that's what we match to. Held is not the same as current, so we check the dates too.

  • Victorian A-Grade Electrician's Licence (Energy Safe Victoria)
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card where the project requires it
  • Traffic management or spotter tickets on road and roadside works
  • Working at heights and confined space
  • Elevated Work Platform (scissor and boom)
  • Low Voltage Rescue and CPR

What's different about crewing this sector

Infrastructure projects usually have their own induction and access regime on top of the standard tickets. Tell us what it is at the request stage — the induction schedule, not the electrician, is normally what determines the first possible start date.

Night and weekend windows are quoted with their shift times and penalty rates agreed in advance, so a possession weekend doesn't produce an argument about the invoice.

Where a project requires drug and alcohol testing or a specific medical, we record the result and its expiry against the electrician so re-deployment doesn't restart the process.

Questions

Infrastructure hire, answered

Do you supply rail-inducted electricians?
Where an electrician holds a current rail induction, it's recorded against them with its expiry and we match on it. Where the project runs its own induction, tell us the dates and we'll get the crew through it before the window opens.
Can you crew a night possession?
Yes. Shift times are set on the job and night, Saturday and Sunday rates are negotiated in the quote before the work is offered to anyone, so the crew knows the shift and you know the cost.
What happens if someone doesn't show for a possession window?
We start working the replacement straight away rather than after the fact. On a possession window there is no second chance, and we'd rather ring you early than explain it afterwards.

Need infrastructure electricians?

Tell us the site, the tickets and the start date. We'll come back with a written quote — rate per electrician, all-inclusive, no lock-in.
